My Winnie the Pooh story

Image
As the Donkeys struggled to survive in the so called "re-education" camp in the Hundred Acre Wood, Winnie the Pooh the leader of the biggest apiary in the forest made plans to expand his territory. Pooh's powers had grown in leaps and bounds. Using his innocent and harmless appearance, he had convinced the other animals to entrust him with the most valuable resource in the Hundred Acre Wood - Honey. They allowed Pooh to take control of over half of the beehives. In time, many of the animals became dependent on Pooh for their supply of honey. And this is when Whinnie the Pooh began showing his true colours. It started with Piglet. He had been Winnie's friend almost his entire life. Piglet had thought nothing of it when Pooh began using his territory for keeping his bees. But when he brought his armed guards into Piglet's land, the latter had to question it. Pooh assured him that this was just for Piglet's protection. But before he knew it, Piglet was a re

When he first saw what looked like two small pairs of glowing orbs, John didn't quite understand what he was looking at. When they blinked he realized they were eyes. As his headlight illuminated the cave a bit more, he saw that those eyes were much larger in proportion to the small bodies to which they belonged. They glowed a luminescent blue, and were oval shaped. They seemed to observe him with the same curiosity and fascination with which he looked at them. "John?" His supervisor called out, "you found something?" For some reason, John decided it would be best to keep his discovery to himself. Partly because he wasn't sure if what he was seeing was even real. "No. Nothing in here." He responded. The search party continued to look for the two missing hikers, until they were finally found by the lake. Exhausted and starving, but relieved at finally being rescued. Once the hikers were airlifted and safely sent home, John went back to the c

Other Mommy!

Little Jenny came home from school all cheery and excited. "Look Mommy!", she said to her mother jumping up and down, "I drew this picture! It's our family!" Mommy took one look at the picture and said, "Oh that's wonderful sweetie! I'm gonna hang it on the refrigerator so Daddy can see it when he comes home." "Thank you, Mommy!", Jenny replied, smiling. "But first, I have a few questions about the drawing...." "Okay Mommy!" Later that day when Daddy came home, the first thing he saw was Jenny's drawing on the refrigerator door. He stopped in his tracks when he saw it. The picture consisted of four stick figures. Underneath each one of them were the words "Mommy", "Me", "Daddy", "Other Mommy". He remembered his daughter catching him and his secretary in their master bedroom. The little girl had asked why he was kissing this lady the way he kissed Mommy. Daddy h

Her talent was par excellence. A rarity, even among a sea of those capable of doing wonders. She had her own distinct style, her own words, her own tune. Her music was magic. So young she was when she entered the Kingdom of Dreams. At nineteen, she was so full of life, so full of hope. But also naive.  Her parental home never truly provided the love and care she needed. She felt unseen, unheard and unappreciated. In the Kingdom she had millions of admirers. Those who swayed to her songs, found their own pain and joys in her lyrics. Those who wanted to be just like her.   But the empty space in her heart could not be filled by those millions. She craved to be held, to be told she was special by someone who was special to her. Her soul was starved of a connection and cried out to be loved.  It wasn't surprising that she would latch on to the first man who showed her care, affection and love. She trusted him completely. To her, he seemed like a compensation for all that had been mis

Burying Secrets

Alexandria visited the local café practically every day in the late afternoon, after her college classes were done. She was usually alone, either reading a book or watching something on her phone while she sipped coffee. Her beauty was not unnoticed by those around her. With her tall and svelte frame, her jet black hair, dark eyes and full lips, she was the fantasy of many a young man. No one ever approached her, however. No one, except Tony.  Tony was a young man in his early twenties who had been lusting for Alexandria ever since he first saw her about a month earlier. He had tried to woo her many times.  He thought he could trap her with gifts, by showing off his new car or with what he thought was "rizz". All of this had worked on several women. But not Alexandria. She had simply laughed at Tony and told him to stay away from her.  Tony had dismissed her rejection as just a woman playing "hard to get". He would often tell her that it made her even more attract

Betrayal

My wedding gown! It still looks as beautiful and as magical as it did on the day of our wedding. Twelve years ago, on this day. The memory of me wearing it and walking down the aisle to marry the love of my life is still fresh in my mind. I carefully put it on, before I begin doing my hair. The same style as I wore on our wedding day. I've already done my make up. Again, just like it was done on our wedding day. As I get ready, I glance over at our three children lying in bed. Two sons and a daughter. They look so peaceful. I think about what the initial years of our marriage were like for George and I. We didn't have much money. In fact, we lived paycheck to paycheck. My paycheck, as he had quit his job to finish law school. Around the time George finished his education and found a job at a reputed law firm, our oldest son was born. By the time he was two years old, my husband was making enough money that I could quit my job. I became a stay at home mom, and soon after o

"Where do you get off being so entitled?", screamed aunt Marion getting up from her chair at the dinning table, "the antique bureau was left to me! Mother told me she wanted me to have it!". "Oh really?", asked my mother, equally angry, "When was that? When she was in the hospital, on morphine? How very convenient!" "It might shock you to know this Doris, but mother and I were very close during her final years. She told me she wanted me to have the bureau, when I was taking care of her. You know? Because I actually spent time with her and father. Instead just of throwing money at them." That last comment was directed at my mom and my uncle David. And both of them knew it. "Look here, Marion! Both David and I have demanding jobs. Jobs that paid for our parents' care", said my mom. This was when uncle David jumped in with, "you and your husband could have done the same, Marion if you had fewer children!"
