Other Mommy!

 


Little Jenny came home from school all cheery and excited.

"Look Mommy!", she said to her mother jumping up and down, "I drew this picture! It's our family!"

Mommy took one look at the picture and said, "Oh that's wonderful sweetie! I'm gonna hang it on the refrigerator so Daddy can see it when he comes home."

"Thank you, Mommy!", Jenny replied, smiling.

"But first, I have a few questions about the drawing...."

"Okay Mommy!"


Later that day when Daddy came home, the first thing he saw was Jenny's drawing on the refrigerator door.

He stopped in his tracks when he saw it.

The picture consisted of four stick figures. Underneath each one of them were the words "Mommy", "Me", "Daddy", "Other Mommy".

He remembered his daughter catching him and his secretary in their master bedroom. The little girl had asked why he was kissing this lady the way he kissed Mommy. Daddy had sloppily explained to Jenny that this was just her other Mommy.

Daddy heard a noise behind him and turned around.

There stood Mommy with a large stake knife in her hands. It had blood on it.

"Don't worry darling", Mommy said with a smile as she walked towards Daddy, "Other Mommy didn't suffer.... much."

How my dog found his previous owner

It started off as just another Sunday morning. I was out on my morning jog, running beside the tree line of the woods that flanked our neighborhood. I was enjoying nature’s beauty while working up a good sweat, when I heard what sounded like whimpers. I followed the sound to it’s source and found a dog, a yellow Labrador sitting under a tree. I knelt down to pet him and he nuzzled into my hand. He seemed somewhat relieved to see me. His tail wagged like crazy as I pet him. I noticed that he was dirty and looked quite malnourished. I wondered if he was had been kicked out by his owner or was just lost. After looking around for a while to see if his owner would show up, I decided to take him home. The Bell

Diya's Nana Ji, or maternal grandfather, had lived a happy and fulfilling life. A successful career, a happy marriage, loving children and loyal friends - he had it all. Though his passing at eighty-one years of age  had certainly been a cause of sadness for his loved ones, it brought none of the agony and regret that often comes with an early demise. A Face In The Water

My family owned a cabin on the eastern side of the Tso Kar Lake in Leh, India. Summer vacations at the cabin, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the lake, the flora and the fauna in the shadow of the majestic Himalayas were an important part of my childhood.
