Burying Secrets

Alexandria visited the local café practically every day in the late afternoon, after her college classes were done. She was usually alone, either reading a book or watching something on her phone while she sipped coffee.

Her beauty was not unnoticed by those around her. With her tall and svelte frame, her jet black hair, dark eyes and full lips, she was the fantasy of many a young man. No one ever approached her, however. No one, except Tony.

Tony was a young man in his early twenties who had been lusting for Alexandria ever since he first saw her about a month earlier. He had tried to woo her many times.

He thought he could trap her with gifts, by showing off his new car or with what he thought was "rizz". All of this had worked on several women. But not Alexandria. She had simply laughed at Tony and told him to stay away from her.

Tony had dismissed her rejection as just a woman playing "hard to get". He would often tell her that it made her even more attractive to him. However, during his last attempt to win her over, Alexandria had humiliated him. She yelled at him in front of everyone at the café and called him a pathetic loser. When Tony grabbed her arm, she slapped him and left.

Tony was dumbfounded. No woman had ever dared to lay her hand on him, or even speak to him in such a manner. At least not since he began working for the Vinci family. But this woman had dared to not only reject him, but had also embarrassed him in front of people.

She would pay.

Tony decided he needed to have Alexandria whether she liked it nor not. He paid a waitress at a club she often frequented, to mix a sedative into her drink. The drug would take effect a short while after it was consumed. And when it did, Alexandria was alone in the parking lot. By now, her friends had driven away. Tony and his boys were waiting in a car not far away and when they saw her stumble as she entered her BMW, they moved.

Tony dismissed his boys and began driving a barely conscience Alexandria to his apartment. However, his excitement over finally being able to have his way with her quickly turned into panic when she began shaking and convulsing uncontrollably. He stopped the car and tried to figure out what was going on with her.

He tried to wake her up by splashing water on her face, but after shaking for a while longer, she stopped moving.

Alexandria was dead.

This is when the tough and dangerous Tony ran crying to his boss.

When his superior, Alberto look one look at the dead woman in Tony's car, it was as if his blood froze in his veins.

He turned to Tony and slapped him hard across the face.

"YOU IDIOT!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO THIS IS??", he yelled.

Tony simply shook his head.

"This is Alexandria Tucci! Don Robert Gambino's second cousin! Do you have any idea what kind of shit storm this can cause?"

Alberto was absolutely right. If it got out that a Vinci family underling had killed a member of the Gambino family, there would be an all out war between the two mafia families. A war that the Vinci's would lose.

"Boss, I'm so sorry! What.... what do we do? What do we do now?", Tony began to stammer and simper, now well and truly terrified.

"We.... we gotta tell the Don", Alberto replied.

To say that Don Vinci was furious was an understatement.

Once he had calmed himself, Vinci ordered his men, including Alberto and Tony, to take the woman's body into the woods and bury her so deep no one would ever find her.

Tony, Alberto and three other men spent over an hour digging a hole deep enough that neither an animal nor any human would dig it out. They then threw Alexandria's body into it.

Just as Tony was about to start shovelling dirt back into the hole, he left a sharp pain in his left knee. His howl of agony was distorted as he was kicked into the hole and fell right on top of Alexandria's corpse.

What Don Vinci and the others hadn't told him was that the grave was being dug not for one, but two bodies. After what he had done, Tony could not be allowed to live. A lot of people had witnessed him harassing Alexandria on several occasions. An investigation by the Gambino family would surely reveal this. They would get their hands on Tony and the little coward would sing like a bird after a good beating.

The war that would follow, would tear the entire underworld apart. To prevent such a catastrophe, Tony would have to be silenced permanently.

Tony begged for his life, he pleaded for a chance to talk to the Don. But his voice grew muffled as Don Vinci's men shovelled dirt into the hole, covering him.

The last thing Tony saw was Alexandria's face right next to him as he was buried alive.
