Fairytale

She could not have been happier! Marrying her Prince Charming and ridding off with him in their carriage. Off to their splendid Palace where a lifetime of joyous bliss awaited them. And to think all this came to pass only because she dropped that glass slipper as she ran away. She supposed she should thank her lucky stars that she had lost track of time and had rushed to get to the carriage that Fairy Godmother had given her.....

The birds and the mice had told her to do it. To make a dress and wear it to the ball. But her evil stepmother and stepsisters had torn it to pieces. However, luck would be kind to her for once and her Fairy Godmother would appear. The dress she then recieved was prettier than any she had ever seen. So big and blue! So lost she was in her happiness as she twirled in it, that she couldn't even hear the screams of her stepmother and stepsisters begging for their lives.

As the mice were turned into her horses and the big pumpkin into a carriage, she rode off to attend the Ball.

The scene that greeted the cops was something out of a nightmare. The family, mother and her two daughters, had been bludgeoned to death and skinned. Besides other grievous injuries, the two daughters also had parts of their heels cut off.

The trail of blood led them to the backyard, and what they saw there would haunt them for the rest of their days. A young girl, covered in blood was dancing. Judging from the way she moved, they figured she thought she was waltzing with someone.

However, it wasn't her dance that terrified them. It was what she was wearing. She had on a dress, a gown made out of human skin. They didn't have to guess where she had gotten the skin.

She had a frozen smile on her lips, her eyes wide open, blood stains on her hands and face, and the "gown" she wore dripping blood as she waltzed away without a care.

A horrifying scene.

The Prince came looking for her, as she knew he would. He had brought with him the glass slipper that she had accidentally left behind. Evil stepmother tried to trick him into thinking that it belonged to one of her daughters. She even cut off parts of their big feet to make them fit into the slipper.

But the Prince knew his Princess when he saw her. There was no doubt in his mind as he set the slipper down before her and he slipped her dainty foot into it. Her announced right there that they would marry and would live happily ever after.

The cops recognised the girl as the daughter of the original owner of the house. She had not been seen in public for quite some time. Her father had married the middle aged lady whose corpse lay in the parlour, and had died soon after.

Neighbours would later reveal that the young girl was abused horribly by her stepmother, and that even her stepsisters were cruel to her. They kept her locked in the basement when she wasn't slaving away cooking and cleaning. Most probably, it was this continued torture that broke the girl's mind.

The older police officer watched as she was escorted into the police car, still smiling and talking about going with her Prince to their palace. What a pity it was, he thought to himself, that the neighbours had called the police when they heard the older woman and her daughters screaming, but never thought to report the abuse to which they had subjected this young girl.
